The 2022 Community Policing Development program is designed to advance the practice of community policing by providing guidance on promising practices through the development and testing of innovative strategies; building knowledge about effective practices and outcomes; and supporting new, creative approaches to preventing crime and promoting safe communities. The 2022 CPD program will encompass separate solicitations in the areas of microgrants; crisis intervention teams; de-escalation training; accreditation; and tolerance, diversity, and anti-bias training. Additional funding will be made available for the areas of emerging issues forums; innovations in recruitment and hiring; and technical assistance efforts that will support tribal law enforcement agencies.
